November 15, 2006: The 12th Avignon/New York Film Festival, represented by Quantock, opened on Manhattan’s Upper East Side with a retrospective of Bob Rafelson’s "Five Easy Pieces" followed by seminars, afternoon presentations and an evening reception. Jerry Rudes, founder and president of Avignon/New York and Pat Swinney Kaufman, Executive Director of the Governor’s Office for Motion Picture and Television Development got Opening Night proceedings underway with welcoming remarks. The audience then settled down to "Le Diner" - a charming short by Cecile Vernant; and "The Big Bad Swim" - an engaging and entertaining debut feature by Ishai Setton.
